EXPERIENCE

a.k.a. street cred

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

My work has given me the opportunity to collaborate with so many wonderfully creative and diverse people. I believe in the power of bringing unique perspectives together to architect a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.

DIRECTOR OF EXECUTIVE COMMUNICATIONS, OFFICE OF THE CEO

Akamai Technologies  //  November 2018 – Present

Attuned to a global perspective, I serve as an influencer and advisor to Akamai's CEO.  As a natural storyteller, I articulate the “voice of the CEO” at all major internal and external Akamai events — delivering design, communications, and Akamai-centric subject matter expertise to create high-impact messaging, live event sequencing and multi-media deliverables.

I collaborate with partners across the business to create key messages and visuals pertaining to Akamai’s thought leadership, market position and strategy, business outlook, company performance and accomplishments, employee engagement, etc..

The environment I work in is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring me to be a big-picture thinker who is also capable of executing tactically with high energy, a keen attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence.

SENIOR MANAGER, EXECUTIVE COMMUNICATIONS DESIGN

Akamai Technologies  //  November 2014 — Present

Working directly with Akamai’s CEO and Executive Communications team, I help infuse creativity into the highest levels of communication by using design logic as my cornerstone. I collaborate with executives, engineers, marketers, technologists, writers and more to conceive and design visuals that effectively simplify complex messages.

One important aspect of this role involves design for live events. I help Akamai's C-Level executives tell engaging stories through thoughtfully-written remarks paired with visually-compelling backdrops. I have designed for a great variety of audiences — both technical and non-technical — and for a wide array of environments from intimate, "get-down-to-business" boardroom settings, to massive multi-thousand person conferences with 60ft. panoramic screens.

As a classically trained designer, I bring a unique and empathetic viewpoint to the table in this role. I thrive on opportunities to bridge the gap between designers and technologists in order to collaboratively seek out the best possible solutions to visually communicate ideas that captivate audiences. Crossing between a creative and technical mindset to solve really tough problems is what I am passionate about, and this role allows me to apply my strong understanding of the design principles in a wide, cross-disciplinary way.

SENIOR DESIGNER

Akamai Technologies  //  November 2009 — October 2014

In this role, I leveraged my classical design background and my creative problem solving skills to design compelling, on-brand solutions for the business. My role was to help breathe new life into the Akamai brand — for both internal and external applications. I gave TLC to the Akamai brand through several different mediums such as print and web ads, marketing collateral, direct mail pieces, editorial and publication designs, web and email designs, logos and icons, event and tradeshow graphics, infographics and more.

Additionally, I worked directly with Akamai's CEO and Corporate Communications team to create strategic main stage presentations for a wide range of global speaking engagements. Together, we collaborated to transform raw, highly technical and complex content into digestible visuals that communicate clearly and effectively to tell compelling stories. This work was the catalyst for my move from the Creative team to the Exec Comms team in 2014.

ART DIRECTOR

North Street Community Center  //  March 2008 — May 2009

Pairing my design thinking skills and EQ, I directed the design of a collaborative, quarterly publication based on the affects of youth participation in community change. I worked one-on-one with teens at the Center to give them a means to express themselves, share their stories, give back to the community, and allow their creativity flourish — teaching them about design thinking methodologies in the process.

GRAPHIC DESIGN CO-OP

Wegmans Food Markets  //  June 2008 — August 2008

Residing in the corporate creative team, I designed collateral, direct mail pieces, in-store signage, icons, packaging, web design, advertisements and editorial spreads. I also provided art direction on photo shoots for Wegmans Menu Magazine.

I'm always up for learning something new, but here are a few core skills that I've already honed that are worth note:
